The boys and I have been talking….and we think, all things considered, that it might be appropriate to give our farm a new name. Since this marks a new beginning in our lives it seems a good thing. We’ve discussed several names but haven’t settled on one that really seems to fit. Since my wonderful readers have been so helpful in the past naming soaps, we thought we’d let ya’ll have a whirl at it.
When we moved here 10 years ago, I felt like our Father put this verse on my heart for this farm:
6 “Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to fear Him. 7 For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills; 8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; 9 a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper. 10 When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which He has given you.
It would be nice to have the farm name reflect this verse in some way…but it’s not necessary.
So…here are the rules:
- You may enter as many times as you’d like either in the comment section or by email.
- The contest will end at midnight on July 18th.
- Although we will pick a winner, it does not obligate us to use the name…..you never know…we might think of one ourselves 🙂
- The winner will be announced on Monday, July 21st.
- Remember that I have to answer the phone with this name and write it down a million times a year….PLEASE….no long names (Green Rolling Hills Farm would just get tiresome quick)!
- Elijah wants me to remind you that we’d like to acknowledge our Father in some way with the name.
- *EDIT* If more than one person picks the same name, then the one who picked it first wins!
Oh….and the rewards….the winner will receive:
- A copy of a wonderful cookbook called “From Asparagus to Zucchini: A guide to Farm-Fresh, Seasonal Produce.” One of my FAVORITE cookbooks! Look up what’s growing in your garden and find lots of recipes for that veggie!
- AND…your choice of 2 soaps
- AND your choice of 1 salve
- AND your choice of 1 Tea
- AND your choice of one of the new all natural lip balms that are going up on my website!
So…on your mark, get set, GO!!! We are looking forward to seeing how creative ya’ll can be!
In the meantime…stay tuned for some exciting new additions to the shampoo line….I’ll have pictures of the newest creation by Monday. Also, you aspiring bread bakers, join me later this weekend for a tutorial on making garlic knots…YUMMY!
